Packaging case photography for CS Light Bulbs — a beetle-themed light bulb series designed by Angelina Pischikova. The brief was to create imagery that could carry the design concept through international award submissions, not just
document the packaging.
The central challenge: beetles had to fly. Suspended mid-air packaging,
lit bulbs, and macro-scale compositions required precise strobe timing,
custom rigging, and multiple controlled lighting setups. Each shot was
developed with the award jury context in mind — how the image would
read as a thumbnail, as a full bleed, and alongside competing entries.
The project was shot with no commercial budget — printed packaging,
studio, props, and post-production were self-funded. The result:
Cannes Lions Silver, D&AD Graphite Pencil, Pentawards Platinum,
Dieline Award Gold, White Square Grand Prix. One photograph spent
over a year on the Adobe Photoshop homepage.
This is what advertising still life photography looks like when the photographer is part of the concept, not just the execution. The full production story is
documented in the behind-the-scenes blog post.
